Charles has been working on public policies for the past 18 years. He serves on the Deer Park City Council. He has advised policy development for dozens of municipalities, counties, and state departments, including authoring several pieces of legislation. His community involvement has partnered him with a myriad of organizations from community non-profits to Chambers of Commerce. Charles has spent more than 14 years on real estate-related policies ranging from taxes to federal and local environmental issues and serving on several state, national, and international panels regarding issues such as crime, lead, methamphetamine labs, mold, bedbugs, development, and foreclosures.

Charles also provides strategic public consultation for campaigns and efforts. Charles is a Board member of COAST, and Maximum Freedom Inc. (an abstinence awareness program for schools) as well as an Elder at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, where he provides pulpit supply for the local church association. In 2012, he also worked on the Citizens for Community Values election effort in Southwest Ohio.

Charles has been married to Regina Tassell for just over 20 years and has three children: CJ 14, Regan 10, and Eliza 4. Charles and his family reside in Deer Park, where he is a Deer Park City Council Member
