Biography

Elected to public service in 1992, Billy represented the interests of South Mississippi in the Mississippi Senate for 20 years, serving as President Pro Tempore in his last term. He has served as National Chairman of the American Legislative Exchange Council, and as Chairman of the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission.

As Mayor of Mississippi’s second largest city, Billy is putting his experience to good use in building relationships, and putting together a team of city leaders to maximize the opportunities ahead for Gulfport.

A small businessman, Billy has been involved with civic and youth sports activities for years. His wife, Paula, (of 28 years) is a Gulfport girl, and they are the proud parents of four children
